India’s ‘first solar-powered train’: All you want to know about Indian Railways’ green initiative

Indian RailwaysAs a green initiative of indian railway, the first solar panel fitted train is all set to commence trial shortly on the Jodhpur division of North western railways. All the six coaches of the train will be fitted with 12 solar panels on each coach. Each panel will generate 300 w of the electricity which means 3.6 KW of power for each coach. This will be enough to run light and fans inside the coach but not sufficient for ACs coach. However, the power supply would not be enough for running  air-conditioners inside the coach.
